Medvedev enters final of Japan Open tennis championship

Patna : World No 32 Daniil Medvedev, 22, Russia, brushed aside World No 31 Denis Shapovalov, 19, Canada, to reach the final of Japan Open tennis championship, an ATP World Tour 500 event at Tokyo on October 6, 2018. Medvedev beat Shapovalov 6-3, 6-3 in the semi-finals. Medvedev fired 12 Aces in the match to 4 by Shapovalov, who committed 5 double faults. Medvedev also won 3 break points besides winning 5 games in a row in the match.

Medvedev will play the winner of the second semi-finals between World No 12 Kei Nishikori, 28, Japan, and World No 25 Richard Gasquet, 32, France, in the final on October 7, 2018. Medvedev had reached 3rd round of Wimbledon and UP Open championship in 2018.
