Patna: Six patients have died in Pana medical College Hospital (PMCH) since Saturday night following strike by the junior doctors who are agitated over attack on them by attendants of a student, who had drowned to death,  the emergency ward. Doctors are demanding security at PMCH and removal of PMC principal. Police had earlier arrested 25 people including two junior doctors.
Junior docgors of Nalanda Medical College Hospital, Darbhanga Medical College and Srikirishna Medical College at Muzaffarpur too have joined the strike in solidarity wih the Patna doctors.
PMCH is turning away pateitns from the hosital and advising them to take the patients to private hospitals. Hospital administration on Tuesday requistioned the servcies of 24 doctors from other government hospitals including government Ayurvedic hospital to man the OPDs. Surgical operations have been postponed both at PMCH and NMCH due to the strike.
Junior doctors sat on dharna at the PMCH shouting slogans against the college principal. A four member team of senior doctors has been constituted by the principal for negotiations with the striking junior doctors who are reluctant to call off their strike. Pirnicipal secretary of health department has invited doctors for talks
