New Delhi : Senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh (UP) and former Union Minister Manoj Sinha, 61, was on August 6, 2020, morning, appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The President of India Ram Nath Kovind has accepted the resignation of Girish Chandra Murmu as Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

The President has been pleased to appoint Manoj Sinha, a B Tech, to be the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office vice Girish Chandra Murmu, according to a PIB release. Murmu, 60, is a former IAS officer, who resigned on August 5, 2020, night. Murmu is a 1985 batch IAS officer.

Manoj Sinha is a three time former Lok Sabha Member. He was first elected to Lok Sabha in 1996.
