Manika Batra wins women’s TT singles golf at CWG 2018

Patna : Manika Batra, 22, Delhi, won gold medal in women Table Tennis (TT) singles event at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 defeating Yu Mengyu, 29, Singapore, 4-0 in the final on April 14, 2018. She is the first Indian women to win CWG individual gold medal in TT.  India won 8 gold medal in different categories on April 14 increasing its gold medal tally to 25 while its overall medal tally increased to 59.

Manika Batra had led the Indian women’s TT team to clinch gold medal at on going Gold Coast CWG few days back defeating defending champion and four time gold medallist Singapore 3-1 in the final.

Manika Batra and Mouma Das won silver medal in the women TT doubles event losing to defending champion Feng Tianwei and Yu Mengyu of Singapore in the final. Manika, Delhi,  thus won three medals including two golds in three events at Gold Coast, a dream and sensational run.
