Ara : Police arrested three persons including the father of the bridegroom in connection with killing of a youth during celebratory firing at a marriage ceremony on December 12, 2020, night, at village Padaria under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur District in South Bihar. The arrested persons were sent to jail.

Police are also conducting raids to arrest other miscreants in this regard. The arrested persons included Vijay Singh, father of the bridegroom, of village Morkap under Shivsagar police station in Rohtas district.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that a baraat had come from Sasaram in Rohtas district to Padaria village under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district on December 12, 2020, and a ritual was going on at the gate of the bride when some people from baraat sideĀ  started pleasure firing. When a youth Nikesh alias Chhotu, son of Vishwanath Singh objected to it, they shot him dead.

A named FIR was lodged with Charpokhari police station against five persons including father of the bridegroom, Vijay Singh, his brother Anup Singh, friend Ashok Singh, Ashutosh Singh, and Prashant Chauhan of Rohtas on the statement of Vishwanath Singh, father of the deceased.

The SP stated that the baraatis were allegedly asking the orchestra party to play songs of their choice but the villagers were against it. He added that police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest other named miscreants.

Vishwanath Singh said that when Nikesh disapproved the conduct of the baraatis, one Ashok Singh allegedly at the behest of Vijay Singh shot him dead.
