Aurangabad: Police on Wednesday arrested a sim sellers from village Haspura. Aurangabad SP Babu Ram said that arrested person has been identified as Arsad Alam, a  resident of Haspura, who had been selling sim cards after  accepting forge documents from customers. The SP said that the preliminary investigation revealed Arsad had sold sim to customers of Kaimur and Nalanda. He said that Police will carry out physical verification of real sim holders.

SP said that many crimes were being committed through mobile phones and fake sim holders were proving troublesome in investigation. He said that all Station house officers (SHOs) had been asked to conduct search of sim sellers’s shops under their respective jurisdiction and take stern action against those selling sim cards without valid document and verification of personal identity.

It is to be noted that use of such sim cards in recent naxals incident has prompted to keep a close watch on sim card sellers. A para military f orceofficer engaged in anti-naxal operation in the district said that usually security person take help of tower location in arresting naxalites and criminals. He said the wrong doers get sim cards easily without valid documents. Besides sim cards released on fake documents were reaching jail inmates too which is a matter of concern.
