Sasaram : As the Sasaram Fast Track Court II Judge, Ravindra Nath Tripathy, convicted Ramesh Singh on August 3, 2018, in connection with the murder of his cousin Mundrika Singh and fixed August 4, 2018, for pronouncement of quantum of punishment, he slipped from police custody and escaped from the court in full public view. Police searched for him for several hours but in vain.

Advocate, Sugriv Chaudhary, said that Ramesh Singh along with Harendra Singh had shot dead his cousin Mundrika Singh on May 24, 2014, in a land dispute. The court had completed hearing and found Ramesh Singh and Harendra Singh guilty of murder. Harendra Singh had informed the court that he was unable to come to court on August 3 due to poor health. The Advocate said that after the escape of Ramesh Singh, the pronouncement of quantum of punishment may be delayed.
