Siwan: A labourer Chattu Prasad (55) committed suicide by hanging himself with a plastic rope at village Bagaura under Daraundha police station in Siwan. His body was found hanging with a tree at an orchard near Lal Bahadur Shastri High School, Bagaura, on January 11 morning.

Quoting deceased’s family members and villagers, Daraundha police station SHO said that Prasad had taken loan from a micro-finance company and he took this extreme step as he failed to repay the money to the company. Police recovered deceased’s shawl and his woolen sweater from a branch of the tree from where his body was found hanging. Body was sent to hospital for autopsy.

Some of the villagers told police that Prasad was getting very low wage for his works and was living in penury. “It seems that he might have committed suicide due to this,” the villagers said. Prasad’s daughter and his wife had gone to his in-laws’ house when the tragic incident took place.
