Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro promoting the cultural heritage rooted in Indian culture and traditions, organized another edition of SPICMACAY 2017 (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth) on April 24, 2017, at Ashwaghosh Kala Bhawan on its school campus.

Mahua Shankar, Kathak dancer of Lucknow Gharana and a disciple of Pt Birju Maharaj, presented Kathak recital based on ‘Krishana Lila’– representing the life of Lord Krishna and his childhood acts of ‘Makkhan Chori’  and his relationship with his mother ‘Yashoda’. She also presented a Jugalbandi of Kathak and Tabla.

Talking to the students, Mahua remarked that the entire nature is based on rhythm. She also answered a few questions of the students and threw light on different Gharanas of Kathak. Her co-artists were Nupur Shankar for ‘Bolpadhant’, Zohaib Ahmad Khan on Tabla and Shaib Hasan on Harmonium. Hemlata S Mohan, Secretary for SPICMACAY Jharkhand State Chapter, felicitated the artists. She expressed her gratitude to SPICMACAY for the uplift of Indian music and the culture.
