Saharsa : Unidentified criminals shot dead a farmer Hardev Mandal, 46, and seriously injured his son Ramesh Mandal at village Motibari under Basnahi police station in Saharsa District in North Bihar on February 15, 2020, evening, when the father-son duo was returning to their home at village Lalia under Gwalpara police station in neighbouring Madhepura District on their bike. The place of occurrence is just 5km away from village Lalia.
Ramesh Mandal, who sustained bullet injuries in head and chest, was rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC), Gwalpara, where the doctor referred him to Madhepura Sadar Hospital. Later, the doctors at Madepura Sadar Hospital referred Ramesh Mandal to a bigger hospital in view of his critical condition. Saharsa SP Rakesh Kumar said that personal enmity appears to be the reason behind the incident.
According sources, the criminals, who were apparently waiting for the father-son duo, fired indiscriminately at them outside a house at village Motibari. Hardev Mandal died on the spot.The incident has triggered panic in the area. Ramesh’s cousin Pappu Mandal attributed the incident to village dispute.
SHO, Basnahi police station, Rajesh Kumar, said that the criminals fired at father-son duo at village Motibari when they were returning to their native village Lalia from Mahua Bazaar.
