Madhubani: Long power cuts, frequent trippings and annoying  voltage fluctuations for last couple of months in Madhubani district have completely exposed the claim of improved power supply scenario in the state. Condition in the villages is even worse, claim sources.
In fact, the situation was much better during winter. Even villages  got power for about 15-16 hours, possibility of which sometime ago seemed to be a wishful thinking. The obvious turnaround in the power supply situation in the state was apparently attributed to Nitish Kumar’s pre-poll much talked about resolve either to improve the power supply position or not to seek vote. And he also got electoral dividends for this.
But, in the very first summer after the polls, the situation almost seems to be back to square one. The commissioning of new power plants, augmenting the generation capacity of old ones, replacing old transformers and installing new ones, replacing old and dilapidated wires, sealing loopholes for power leakage and theft were the measures which brightened hopes for a permanent solution of power generation and supply in the state. Alas! Something seems to have gone phut
somewhere, as is Bihar’s wont.
