Munger: District and sessions judge, Munger, Shushma Sinha while delivering her judgement in a 23 year old case of murder on Thursday sentenced Gore Lal Yadav, the accused, to life imprisonment. The convict was also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000.

The accused was found guilty under section 302/34 last week by the court for the murder of Jaiprakash Yadav, a resident of village Govindpur under Surajgarha police station in Lakhisarai district. Surajgarha was then a part of old Munger district. According to prosecution, Jaiprakash Yadav had accompanied a few fellow villagers including Gore Lal yadav, Niranjan Yadav, Nawal Kishore Yadav and Khantar Yadav to earn bread in Delhi as a labourer.

Actually, as prosecution stated, Jaiprakash Yadav was waylaid and brutally murdered by them in a bahiyar lying under Haveli Kharagpur police station in Munger district. The body was found in the bahiyar and later identified as that of Jaiprakash. Police on the report of the village Chaukidar Govind Paswan, instituted case under section 302/34 IPC on February 4,1993, besides some other sections of the IPC against the accused. Niranjan Yadav, Nawal Yadav and Khantar yadav died during trial.
