Ara: SDO, Ara, Navdeep Shukla cancelled the licenses of three Public Distribution System shops and also lodged an FIR of fraud with Nawada police station against all the three PDS dealers: Narain Tiwari, Satish Kumar and Umeshwar Tiwari on Wednesday. District Supply Officer (DSO), Bhojpur, Vimal Kumar said that the action was taken on the direction of the Lokayukt, Bihar.

The DSO said that Bharat Ram of Ara had appealed in the court of Lokayukt Patna alleging that Narain Tiwari owned three PDS shops under three different names at Ara about five year ago. The Lokayukt had directed action after thorough probe into the matter but the file kept gathering dust. Bhojpur district administration swung into action after the Lokayukt sent a reminder inquiring about action taken in the matter.

Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav formed a three- member committee comprising the ADM, Ara, SDO and DSO. The probe team went through registers, receipts and other official papers of all the three PDS shops and also got the handwriting on all the registers verified from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Patna. The FSL report confirmed that the handwriting on all the registers was of a single person. The DSO said that there were a number of such cases in Bhojpur district and the district administration had taken serious note of it. He said all the PDS shops would be inquired into and if any anomaly is detected, their license would be cancelled.
