Land reach BSL ready to give land to Arcellor Mittal, Posco

Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Going for long term planning to augment its revenue, providing still better civic facilities, making Bokaro Steel City (BSL) more clean and green besides utilizing its large chunk of  open  space, land rich Bokaro Steel Plant  top management has initiated several steps the results of which be visible in few years.

Aware of glut in steel market, Bokaro steel is not only stressing on production of quality steel adopting quality technology raising its production from 4 million tons to 4.25 million tons per  year  checking avoidable expenses but is also entering different fields of demand being made in  automobiles, railways, ship building, construction of bridges and roads  as well as buildings.

BSL CEO P K Singh is of the opinion that as Bokaro steel has large chunk of land, global steel players like Arcelor Mittal, Posco  and other companies, with whom SAIL is already in talks, can be invited to establish their steel plants in Bokaro which will boom economic growth in this zone generating big employment and other financial activities. “The ball is in the court of SAIL which will decide  about Arcellor Mittal or Posco,” stated the CEO.

Aware of water problems facing the BSL, which gets its water from Tenughat dam (32km away from Bokaro)  through canal, BSL is now in talks with a Pune based firm  for laying new water pipeline from Damodar river via Baidyamara village to present established Cooling pond which  even today meets the steel plant need besides lakhs  of people living in Bokaro  steel city and adjoining areas. “This project is expected to be completed by the end of next year,” promised the CEO adding the blueprint of this project has  already been prepared.

BSL sources stated that  in next few years more than one lakh more plants will be planted in and around the city to make it more greener and  turn the city ollution free while  anti-encroachment drive will be carried out on regular basis  to remove encroachments which are like dark spots on  this well planned city.

Bokaro steel plant chief of communications Manikant Dhan  said that Bokaro steel is preparing plans not only to make the steel plant a big profit giving steel unit of SAIL but at the same time  planning to provide excellent civic facilities to the township by making new roads and installing  better lighting arrangements keeping its streets better illuminated.
