Patna : Terming the resignation of Bihar CM and JD(U) national President Nitish Kumar on July 26, 2017, a `drama’, RJD chief Lalu Prasad asked Nitish to let RJD, JD(U) and Congress MLAs  to sit and select the new chief minister and deputy chief minister.

Lalu said that he had never created trouble for Nitish. Lalu said that Nitish was an accused in Barh murder case of 1991 in which the court took cognisance in 2009. Nitish was afraid of this case, Lalu alleged. Lalu said that Nitish, after his resignation, has indicated he could now join hands with the BJP. Lalu said that the BJP now fears his son Tejaswi Yadav.

Nitish, on the other hand, said that he had no option than to resign as the RJD had ruled out the possibility of Tejaswi Yadav’s resignation in the wake of CBI making him an accused in land for hotel scam. He said had the RJD chief asked Tejaswi to resign he would have gained in stature.

Nitish’s resignation has thrown the opposition unity move for the 2019 LS polls in disarray as he is a high profile opposition leader with national standing. The question is why he joined hands with the RJD in 2015 assembly polls knowing its head Lalu Prasad was convicted in fodder scam? Also why Lalu selected Nitish as the CM when he was accused in a murder case?
