Patna: After two days of the strong comments challenging the leadership of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar by RJD vice-presidents Mohammad Shahbuddin and Raghuwansh Prasad Singh, JD(U) came to equally strong defence of Nitish and reminded the RJD leaders that their party president Lalu Prasad had also accepted Nitish as their leader.
JD(U) spokesman Nikhil Mandal, in a statement on Monday, said,” Assembly elections in Bihar were fought by JD(U), RJD and Congress together by projecting Nitish Kumar as their Chief Minister candidate. The alliance got people’s mandate. When Shaahbudin’s party president Lalu Prasad has declared Nitish Kumar as their leader any comment by any other RJD leader is unimportant.”

Nikhil said, “Nitish Kumar is widely hailed as the Vikas Purush under whom Bihar is prospering every day while on the other hand Shahbudin’s record and  image is well known to everyone. He should also keep in mind that he is merely out on bail not that his case has been dismissed.” Nitish Kumar is among the top national leaders and definitely among the top chief ministers of India and its very ironical and sad that leaders who are still looking for political identity are commenting about him. Shahbudin is undergoing identity crisis hence using Nitish Kumar’s name as a propaganda tool, Nikhil commented. Nikhil Mandal is the grandson of former Bihar CM B P Mandal who headed the Mandal Commission.

The JD(U) has convened a press conference on Monday afetrnoon at party headquarters where two senior ministers Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lallan Singh will brief the media about decisions taken at the high level meeting on Shahbuddin issue at CM residence. The meeting as attended by Yadav, Lallan and state JD(U)  president Bashistha Narain Singh. Advocate general and additional advocate general were also called at the CM house.

The JD (U) will take action against its MLA from Belhar Girdhari Yadav who had welcomed Shahbuddin when he came out of Bhagalpur jail on September 10. He had accompanied Shahbuddin in his vehicle and was present when the former MP from Siwan made anti-Nitish Kumar comments.
