Patna : Third seed Lakshya Sen, 20, India, defeated reigning World Champion & 5th seed Loh Kean Yew, 24, Singapore, in straight games in men’s singles final on January 16, 2022, to win the Yonex-Sunrise India 2022, title, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event held at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi.
World No 17 Lakshya, who had won bronze medal at World Championships a few weeks back, beat World No 15 Loh Kean Yew 24-22, 21-17 in men’s si gles final on January 16, 2022, in 54 minutes. Lakshya won 45 points during the match to 39 points by Loh. The Indian, however, won only 4 consecutive points during the match to 6 by Loh. Lakshya created 3 game point opportunities and converted two of them. Loh created 2 game point opportunities byt failed to convert any of them, Lakshya won challenge.
