Ara : A Lady  constable committed suicide by hanging herself to the  ceiling fan of a room at her rented house at Kashyap Nagar under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on January 21, 2021, late evening. Police, on getting  information, rushed to the spot and rushed her to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor there declared her brought dead. Police got the post-mortem done the same evening.

The deceased was identified as Sharada Kumari, wife of Pradeep Kumar Chauhan of Rajwaan village under Panjwada police station in Banka District in East Bihar. She was posted in the Anti-riot squad in Bhojpur District. Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai, SDPO Pankaj Rawat, Sergeant Major, Ram Vilas Chaudhay, SHO, Nawada police station, Sanjeev Kumar and other officials rushed to the spot.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that prima facie it appears she was under depression and committed suicide. He said that her diary was recovered from the spot and police are investigating the matter to know the reason behind her suicide.

Pradeep Kumar Chauhan, deceased’s husband, said that he was married to Sharada Kumari in 2012 and she was posted in the Anti-Riot Squad in Bhojpur since 2018. He said that he worked as an electrician in a private company in Odhisa. Chauhan said that she used to say since December 2020 that she was under depression and did not want to live more. She called him two days ago saying that she wanted to go for treatment from a psychiatrist at Varanasi and so he came a day before.

Chauhan further said that she mostly lived on the ground floor of the rented house at Kashyap Nagar under Nawada police station and added that he was cooking on the first floor of the house while she was on the ground floor. Meanwhile, she entered the study room of the landlord and committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan of the room.
