Patna : Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) scored 193/3 in 20 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 16th match of IPL 2018 riding on a 58 ball unbeaten century by opener Chris Gayle at Mohali on April 19 night. Gayle scored 104 not out in 63 balls with 1 four and 11 sixes. Gayle hit four consecutive sixes in the 14th over bowled by SRH’s much hyped spinner Rashid Khan, Afghanistan.

Rashid Khan took 1/55 in 4 overs while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar took 1/25 in 4 overs. Siddharth Kaul took 1/33 in 4 overs while Shakib Al Hasan leaked 28 runs in 2 overs. KXIP won the toss and opted to bat.

Gayle’s century was the first in the IPL this season. He has so far hit six tons in the IPL. Karun Nair made 31 in 21 balls with 3 fours and a six while opener Lokesh Rahul made 18 in 21 balls with 3 fours. Aaron Finch, Australia, scored an unbeaten 14 in 6 balls with 1 four and a six. Mayank Agarwal made 18 in 9 balls with 2 fours and a six.

SRH were 22/1 in 3 overs with opener Wriddhiman Saha getting out for 6 to Mohit Sharma. Opener Shikhar Dhawan retired hurt after being hit on arm by a Barinder Sran delivery on the first ball he faced. Captain Kane Williamson was batting on 9 while Yusuf Pathan was batting on 6.
