Patna : Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 97 runs in the 6th match of IPL at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on September 24, 2020, night, with opener Lokesh Rahul (captain) scoring an unbeaten 132 runs in just 69 balls hitting 14 fours and 7 sixes and leg spinners Mugurn Ashwin, 30, and Ravi Bishnoi taking three wickets each. RCB won the toss and opted to bowl. Lokesh Rahul was declared Player Of the Match.
Batting first, KXIP posted a huge 206/3 in 20 overs with Lokesh Rahul scoring an unbeaten 132 and his opening partner Mayank Agarwal scoring 26 with 4 fours. Rahul and Agarwal added 57 runs for the first wicket. Rahul then added 57 runs with Nicholas Pooran for the 2nd wicket. Glenn Maxwell fell to Shivam Dube for 5 making it 128/3. Rahul and Karun Nair added 78 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 4th wicket.
In reply, RCB were bundled out for a paltry 109 runs in 17 overs. RCB made a disastrous start losing their first three wickets including that of captain Virat Kohli (1) for just 4 runs. Opener Devdutt Padikkal fell to fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell for 1 Josh Phillepe (wk) fell to fast bowler Mohammad Shami without scoring making it 3/2. Kohli fell to Cottrell for 1 and it was 4/3. Opener Aaron Finch fell to Bishnoi for 20 in 21 balls with 3 fours making it 53/4. A B de Villiers fell to Murugan Ashswin for 28 in 18 balls with 4 fours and a six and it was 57/5. Washington Sundar fell to Bishnoi for 30 in 27 balls hitting 2 fours and a six.
