Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crushed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 86 runs in the 54th match of IPL at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, UAE, on October 7, 2021, late night, as fast medium bowler Shivam Mavi took 4/21 in 3.1 overs while fast bowler Lockie Ferguson from New Zealand took 3/18 in 4 overs. Shivam Mavi was named Player Of The Match. RR had won the toss and opted to bowl.
KKR have now 14 points from 14 games and have nearly secured a place in the play-offs. RR finished with 10 points from 14 games. KKR’s big victory has made the match between MI and SRH very interesting. MI need to improve their run rate big way..
Chasing a target of 172 runs, RR were bundled out for just 85 runs in 16.1 overs with leg spinner Rahul Tewatia scoring 44 runs in 36 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes while Shivam Dube scored 18 runs with 1 six. RR had a very bad start as they lost their first wicket that of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal at zero. Yashasvi fell to spinner Shakib Al-Hasan for a duck. Shakib opened the attack for KKR.
