Gopalganj: The family members of Khajurbanni hooch tragedy victims in Gopalganj district were handed over cheques of Rs 4 lakh each on Sunday. Most of the family members had tears in their eyes while accepting the cheques as they have lost their near and dear ones. The officials at the collectorate were seen consoling the family members. The cheques were handed over by Gopalganj DM Rahul Kumar.
The cheques were handed over to Kanchan Devi, wife of Shashikant Chouhan of Khwajepur under Manjha PS, Rina Devi, wife of Deena Nath Manjhi of Harkhua, Shyamsunder Devi, wife of Ramji Sharma, Jitan Devi, wife of Parma Mahto of Purani Chowk, Amrita Devi, wife of Anil Ram of Amathi, Chanda Devi, wife of Durgesh Sah of Hajiyapur, Jhunni Devi, wife of Jhamendra Mahto of Surwaniya, Baby Devi, wife of Bhuteli Sharma, Chabita Devi, wife of Battis Mahto, Shuklal Mahato, dependent of Munna Kumar, Reeta Devi, wife Sadhu Mahto, and Geeta Devi, dependent of Manoj Sah.
The cheques were handed over after verification by Panchayat secretary and Vikas Mitras. Altogether 12 family members of the victims received the cheques by the districr administration.
