Sasaram: Rohtas Battalion will be formed to bring the youth of Kaimur hill to the mainstream of the society by providing them employment. A proposal to this effect has been sent to the government.

Rohtas SP M S Dhillo said that keeping in view the topography of Kaimur Hill, a Rohtas Battalion comprising people of Rohtas and Kaimur districts living on the Kaimur Hill, will be formed on the line of India Reserve Force in J&K  and a proposal with the approval of Shahabad range DIG Md Rahman has been sent to the state government. He said that the main objective behind formation of the Rohtas Battalion is utilise the services of the locals in combating ultras after their proper training as they would know geography of the hill very well.

The SP said that though the youth of the area are not very educated, they will be recruited on the basis of their background, physique, behaviour and character. He said that the battalion will have 133 personnel. Zonal IG Nayyar Hassanain Khan said he has forwarded the proposals to the government.
