Kharif crop sown on 124.94 lakh hectare

New Delhi: Kharif crop has been sown on 124.94 lakh hectare across the country so far. The total sown area as on June 24, as per reports received from states, stands at 124.94 lakh hectare compared to 164.10 lakh hectare at this time last year. It is reported that paddy  has been sown/transplanted on 19.86 lakh hectare,  pulses on  9.66 lakh hectare, coarse cereals on 17.60 lakh hectare, oilseeds on  6.97 lakh hectare, sugarcane on 44.38 lakh hectare and cotton on 19.07 lakh hectare, according to Union Agriculture ministry sources.
