Patna : World No 18 Karen Khachanov, 22, Russia, stunned winner of 14 Grand Slam singles title and World No 2 Novak Djokovic, 31, Serbia, in the final of ATP Paris Masters 1,000 on November 4, 2018, night, at Paris, France, to win first ATP Masters 1,000 title of his career. Paris Masters was the 9th and final Masters 1,000 points tournament on the ATP world tour season.

Khachanov comfortably beat Djokovic, who had beaten winner of 20 Grand Slam singles titles in three-sets in the semi-finals on November 3, 2018, in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to end his 22 match unbeaten run. Khachanov fired 9 Aces in the match to 5 by Djokovic, the reigning Wimbledon and US Open champion. He also won 3 break points to just 1 by his Serbian rival. He won 3 games in a row in the match while Djokovic won 2.

Khachanov had beaten World No 5 Alexander Zverev, 21, Germany, in the quarter-finals and World No 8 Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, in the semi-finals. He had also defeated World No 9 John Isner, 33, USA, in the Round of 16.

Khachanov got  1,000 points for winnings the title while runners-up Djokovic got 600 points. Djokoviv will be officially declared World No in the ATP rankings on November 5, 2018. Khachanov is also likely to jump 10 places in the rankings with this win.
