Khachanov, Coric, Goffin & Herbert reach QFs of ATP Halle Open

Patna : World No 9 Karen Khachanov, Russia, World No 14 Borna Coric, Croatia, World No 33 David Goffin, Belgium, and World No 43 Pierre Hugues Herbert, France, entered the quarter-finals of ATP Halle Open, Germany, on June 19, 2019, night.

Khachanov beat World No 35 Jan-Lennard Struff, Germany, in a tough three-set contest 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in 1 hr 43 minutes in the second round of the grass court tournament, an ATP World Tour 500 points event. Defending champion Coric beat World No 71 Joao Sousa, 30, Portugal, in a cliffhanger 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 in 2 hr 55 minutes in the 2nd round. Coric fired 8 Aces in the match to 4 by Sousa. He won 2 break points to 1 by Sousa. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. Coric won 87 service points to 79 by Sousa.

Goffin defeated World No 41 Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round to enter the QFs. Goffin served 9 Aces in the match to 4 by Albot. Goffin won 2 break points to 1 by Albot. Goffin won 5 games in a row to 3 by Albot.

Herbert beat World No 123 Sergiy Stakhovsky, 33, Ukraine, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the 2nd round. Herbert will face Coric in the QFs.
