Kerber, Sevastova, Bencic & Kenin reach SFs of WTA Mallorca Open

Gurugram ( Haryana) : World No 6 Angelique Kerber, 31, Germany, World No 12 Anastasija Sevastova, 29, Latvia, World No 13 Belinda Bencic, 22, Switzerland, and World No 30 Sofia Kenin, 20, USA, advanced to the semi-finals of WTA Mallorca Open,   Spain, a grass courts tournament, on June 21, 2019.

Top seed Kerber, the reigning Wimbledon Champiuon, beat World No 23 Caroline Garcia, 25, France, 6-3, 7-6 in the quarter-finals at Santa Ponsa Tennis Club, Mallorca, Spain, Academy, on June 21. Kerber won 46 service points to 40 by Garcia. Kerber, the winner of three Grand Slam singles title, also won a break point. The German won 3 games in a row in the match to 2 by Garcia.

Sevastova beat World No 58 Wang Yafan, 25, China, 6-2, 6-1 in the quarter-finals. Sevastova won 4 break points in the match to none by Wang. Sevastova won 35 service points to 20 by Wang. Sevastova also won 5 games in a row in the match.

Bencic beat World No 27 Amanda Anisimova, 17, USA, 6-2, 6-2 in the QFs. Bencic won 6 break points in the match to 2 by Amanda Anisimova.Bencic won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by Anisimova. Bencic won 30 service points to 22 by Anisimova. Bencic will face Kerber in the SFs at 8.30 pm on June 22, 2019.

Kenin upset World No 21 Elise Mertens, 23, Belgium, 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the QFs. Kenin won 5 break points to 3  by Mertens. Both the players won 44 service points. Both the players also won 5 games in a row in the match. Mertens served 4 Aces to none by Kenin. Kenin will face Sevastova in the SFs at 7 pm on June 22, 2019.
