Patna : World No 10 Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, reached the final of women’s singles final of Wimbledon tennis championship on July 12, 2018, evening, defeating former French Open Champion Jelena Ostapenko, 21, Latvia, in the semi-finals in straight sets. Kerber beat Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3.

Both the players served 3 Aces each in the match. World No 12 Ostapenko, however, committed 3 double faults. Kerber won 4 break points to just 1 by Ostapenko. Kerber also won 7 games in row in the match to just 2 by her rival.

Winner of two Grand Slam titles, Kerber had also reached the Wimbledon tennis championship. She had won Australian Open and US Open singles titles in 2016.
