Patna : World No 54 Miomir Kecmanovic, 20, Serbia, and Jason Jung, 30, Taiwan, on February 15, 2020, entered the semi-finals of New York Open, an ATP World Tour 250 indoor hard courts event, at New York, USA.
Sixth seed Kecmanovic upset World N0 43 Ugo Humbert, 21, France, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in 1hr 48 minutes in quarter-finals rallying back from one set down. The Serbian won 3 break points to 1 by 4th seed Humbert. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. Humbert though fired 7 Aces in the match to 3 by Kecmanovic. The Serbian, in all, won 80 points to 77 by Humbert. Kecmanovic will face 8th seed Kyle Edmund, UK, in semi-finals on February 16, 2020.
Jason Jung beat 3rd seeed and defending champion Reilly Opelka, 22, USA, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in 1hr 51 minutes in quarter-finals coming back from one set down. World No 40 Opelka though hammered 24 Aces in the match to 4 by World No 131 Jung. Jung won 2 break points to 1 by the America. Jung, in all, won 93 points to 87 by Opelka. The American committed 3 double faults to 1 by Jung. Both the players won 3 games each in a row. Jung won 30 receiving points to 23 by the American. Jung will face World No 98 Andreas Seppi, 35, Italy, in SFs.
