Kashyap & Prannoy crash out of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, Srikanth in QFs

Patna : World No 13 Kidambi Srikanth, India, World No 3 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, World No 4 Chen Long, China, World No 27 Lee Cheuk Yiu, Hong Kong, and World No 5 Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, and World No 6 Jonatan Christie, Indonesia, entered the quarter-finals of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event, on November 14, 2019.

Kidambi Srikanth, India, beat compatriot Sourabh Verma in a three-game thriller to enter the quarter-finals of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open on November 14, 2019. Srikanth beat World No 38 Sourabh Verma 21-11, 15-21, 21-19 in 59 minutes in 2nd round at Hong Kong Coliseum, Hong Kong. Srikanth won 57 rallies in the match to 51 by Sourabh. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Srikanth now leads Sourabh 2-0 Head to Head.

Fourth seed Antonsen beat World No 17 and five-time former World Champion Lin Dan, China, in straight games 21-14, 21-11 in 49 minutes in 2nd round. Antonsen won 42 rallies in the match to 25 by Dan. Antonsen won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Dan. It was first meeting between the two players.

Reigning Olympic Champion Chen Long beat World No 26 Wang Tzu Wei, Chinese Taipei, in a tough three-game contest 18-21, 21-14, 21-14 in 79 minutes coming back from behind to enter the QFs. Fifth seed Chen Long won 60 rallies in the match to 47 by Wang. He won 9 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Wang. Chen Long now leads Wang 4-2 Head to Head.

Lee Cheuk Yiu stunned World No 7 Shi Yu Qi, China, in straight games 21-9, 26-24 in 35 minutes to enter the QFs. Lee won 47 rallies in the match to 33 by Yu Qi. He won 4 consecutive points in the match to 7 by the Yu Qi. The two players are now locked 2-2 Head to Head.

Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, beat World No 35 Liew Daren, Malaysia, 21-14, 21-16 in 38 minutes in 2nd round to enter the QFs. Axelsen, the 7th seed, won 42 rallies in the match to 30 by the Malaysian. He won 4 consecutive points in the match to 7 by the Malaysian.  Axelsen now leads Daren 3-1 Head to Head.

Asian Games champion Jonatan Christie beat  World No 28 H S Prannoy, India, 21-12, 21-19 in 38 minutes to enter the QFs. Jonatan won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Prannoy. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. The two players are now locked 2-2 Head to Head.

World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, Chinese Taipei, beat World No 25 Parupalli Kashyap, India, in a three-game thriller 12-21, 23-21, 21-10 in 60 minutes battling back from one game down. Chou Tien Chen won 56 rallies in the match to 52 by Kashyap. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Kashyap. Chou now leads Kashyap 4-2 Head to Head.
