Kashyap, Chou, Axelsen enter 2nd round of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open

Patna : World No 25 Parupalli Kashyap, India, World No 2 Chou Tien Chen, 29, Chinese Taipei, World No 5 Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, entered the second round of Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event, at Hong Kong on November 13, 2919.

Kashyap upset World No 12 Kenta Nishimoto, 25, Japan, in a three-game thriller  21-18, 16-21, 21-10 in 66 minutes in first round at Hong Kong Coliseum, Hong Kong. Kashyap won 58 rallies in the match to 49 by Nishimoto. He won 6 consecutive points in the match to 3 by the Japanese. It was the first meeting between the two players.

Second seed Chou Tien Chen beat World No 15 Kanta Tsuneyama, 23, Japan, in a three-games 21-5, 24-26, 21-15 in 68 minutes in first round. Chou won 66 rallies in the match to 46 by Tsuneyama. He also won 6 consecutive points in a row to 4 by the Japanese. Chou now leads Tsuneyama 4-0 Head to Head.

Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, beat defending champion and World No 24 Son Wan Ho, 31, South Korea, 21-9, 21-14 in 39 minutes to enter the 2nd round. Axelsen won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by Son Wan Ho. Axelsen now leads Son Wan Ho 7-5 Head to Head. Ho has won 9 career titles while Axelsen has won 17 titles.

World No 10 Ba Sai Praneeth, India, lost to 3rd seed & World No 7 Shi Yu Qi, China, in first round. Yu Qi beat Praneeth 11-21, 21-18, 21-12 in 46 minutes in first round coming back from behind. The Chinese won 53 rallies in the match to 51 by Praneeth. Shi Yu Qi now leads Praneeth 3-0 Head to Head.
