Jr Engineer shot dead in Araria, no arrest

Araria : A Junior Engineer of Local Area Engineering Organisation (LAEO) Ramvilas Mahto, 35, was shot dead by bike borne criminals near Hariawada petrol pump under Araria Town police station in Araria district around 9.30 pm on June 17, 2018, when he was returning from Narpartganj where he was posted. Hariawada is about 7 km away from Araria Town.

Araria SP Dhurath Sayli Sablaram, a 2010 batch Bihar cadre IPS officer, while confirming the killing of Junior Engineer Mahto said that it was still not clear as to who killed him and what was their motive though police were investigating into the incident. Obviously, police are yet to make any arrest in this connection.

Mahto was posted at Narpatganj in the district but had residence at Araria. He was returning to Araria from Narpatganj on his bike on June 17 night when four bike criminals shot him dead. Mahto belonged to Jharkhand state.
