Giridih : Mukesh Pahadia, a Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) personnel engaged in on going Operation Hill Vijay (OHV) against Maoists, was injured during an encounter with the ultras at Jaynagar on the top of Parasnath hills, about 3 km from Dakbangla near the foothills in Giridih district early on Saturday morning. After providing him first aid at Madhuban, he was sent to Vedanta hospital, Ranchi, by chopper. The OHV started on May 27.
“It all happened around 5.20 am when the security forces comprising state police, Jharkhand Jaguar and others were monitoring a road construction work that was pending for years due to fear of Maoists. All of a sudden a group of armed Maoists appeared and opened indiscriminate firing on the security personnel in which a Jharkhand Jaguar personnel received bullet injuries. The encounter continued for more than half an hour in which more than a 100 rounds were fired from both sides,” said ASP (Operations), Kunal Kumar, adding that the ultras fled away from their hideouts in view of resistance from the security forces. Additional forces have been deployed in areas suspected to be hideouts of Maoists to cope tackle any untoward incident.
