Patna: While bank customers faced problems in getting new currency notes from branches of banks and post offices on November 11 too in different parts of Bihar, Jharkhand government on Friday sent two helicopters to
Patna for collecting new currency notes for customers in Jharkhand.

Development commissioner, Jharkhand, Amit Khare, on Friday said the decision was taken in consultation with the union government as many parts of Jharkhand  faced near law and order problem outside banks. Rush of customers also created traffic problems as the queue was about 3 km long at certain places.

Two helicopters from Ranchi reached Patna on Friday afternoon to collect currency notes from Reserve Bank of India, Gandhi Maidan. One helicopter left for Ranchi and another for Bokaro, Dhanbad and Jamshedpur to deliver cash to different nationalised banks. Confusion prevailed as most of the ATMs were still displaying `out of
order’ board. Many branches stopped payment as they too ran short of cash.
