Madhubani: Jewellery worth over a crore stolen from the house of a Mumbai businessman, Ashok Duggal, on April 10 last by his domestic help Dayanand Chaudhary of village Jamuari under Arer police station in Madhubani district, was recovered by the police from his house at Jamuari on May 12.
Of the nineteen diamond and ruby studded gold jewellery allegedly stolen by Dayanand, thirteen have been recovered after a raid at his house by an SIT of Madhubani police comprising of SDPO, Benipatti, Nirmala Kumari, and town inspector Yugesh Chandra. This information was given to the press by Madhubani SP, Akhtar Hussain, on Thursday by evening.
The SP informed that Dayanand and members of his family could not be nabbed as they fled before the police raided their house. Police are seriously trying to arrest them and recover the remaining six jewellery, he added. He further informed that the chowkidar of the village Kailash Paswan had been sent to jail on judicial remand as he
is suspected to have been in the know of the theft and, thus, guilty of suppressing the fact. He may also be suspended, he added.
