Ara : The activists of the Jan Adhikar Party (Loktantrik) stopped the Buxar- Patna EMU train at Ara railway station under Danapur division of East Central Railway, Hajipur, for about an hour on December 10, 2017, to press their different demands.
The Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) supporters took out a procession that passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town and culminated at Ara railway station where they stopped the Buxar- Patna EMU by boarding the engine and squatting on the railway track. They raised slogans against Bihar government and CM Nitish Kumar. As a result several long distance trains remainded stranded at different railway stations between Mughalsarai and Ara.
The main demands of the agitators included equal education and medical facilities for everyone, same wages for same work, lifting of ban on free sale of sand and stonechips, check on rising crime against the poor, and impartial inquiry into all the scams.
