Isner, Paire, Hurkacz & Humbert enter SFs of ATP Auckland Open

Patna : World No 20 John Isner, 34, USA, World No 24 Benoit Paire, 24, France, World No 34 Hubert Hurkacz, 22, Poland, and World No 57 Ugo Humbert, 21, France, reached the semi-finals of ATP Auckland Open at Auckland, New Zealand, on January 16, 2020, a hard court tournament.

Fourth seed John Isner beat Kyle Edmund, UK, 7-6, 7-6 in 1 hr 56 minutes in quarter-finals. Isner hammered 25 Aces in the match to 6 by Edmund. Isner also won 2 games in a row in the match. The American won 67 service points in the match to 59 by Edmund.

Benoit Paire, the 5th seed, beat World No 47 John Millman, 30, Australia, in three-sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in QFs battling back from one set down. Paire fired 13 Aces in the match to 4 by the Australian. Paire won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Millman. Paire won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by the Australian. He won 56 service points to 50  by Millman.

Sixth seed Hurkacz beat World No 61 Feliciano Lopez, 38, Spain, in three-sets 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in quarter-finals. Lopez though hammered 18 Aces in the match to 11 by Hurkacz. But, Hurkacz won 3 break points to 1 by Lopez. The Pole also won 3 games in a row in the match to 2 by the Spaniard. Hurkacz won 70 service points to 68 by Lopez. Hurkacz will face Paire in SFs on January 17, 2020.

Humbert stunned World No 13 and 2nd seed Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, beating him 7-5, 6-4 in 88 minutes in quarter-finals.Humbert fired 7 Aces in the match to 5 by the Canadian. Shapovalov committed 6 double faults to 2 by Humbert. Humbert also won 2 break points to none by Shapovalov. Humbert will face John Isner in SFs on January 17.
