Saharsa : Amit Jha, the key accused in IndusInd Bank Collection Executive Niraj Singh murder case, died at Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 15, 2017.  Amit had sustained bullet injury in an encounter with police at his native village Bangaon in Saharsa district on April 13 night. Amit had fired on cops when they reached Bangaon to arrest him in Niraj Singh murder case. Police too fired on him and one of the bullets hit Niraj’s on the chest but he managed to escape from the village.

Police again visited Bangaon on April 14 and arrested Amit from a garden. SDPO, Saharsa, Subodh Kumar Biswas, confirmed the death of Amit Jha. The SDPO said that Amit was involved in about a dozed criminal cases including murder of Mukhia of Sinhoul panchayat under Bihra police station Anil Mukhia in 2016. For Saharsa police Amit Jha was a most wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, the SDPO said. Niraj Singh was shot dead when he had gone to deposit cash in Saharsa branch of Axis Bank.
