India score 274/7 against S Africa in 5th ODI, Sharma hits ton

Patna : India scored 274/7 in 50 overs against South Africa in the 5th ODI at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on February 13, 2018, riding on 115 by opener Rohit Sharma and 36 by Captain Virat Kohli. It was Sharma’s 17th ODI ton. He was dropped on 96. South Africa won the toss but elected to bowl first.

Sharma, who had a miserable run the ODI series so far scoring only 40 in first four matches, hit 11 fours and 4 sixes in his 115 in 126 balls. He was involved in a 105 run partnership with Kohli. The six Sharma hit off Rabada, the fastest South African bowler, was a delight to watch. Kohli wasrun out for 36 in 54 balls hitting 2 fours. Opener Shikhar Dhawan made 34 in 23 balls hitting 8 fours while Shreyas Iyer scored 30 in 37 balls hitting 2 fours. Sharma andIyer were involved in a60 run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Ajinkya Rahane was run out for 8 in 18 balls. Hardik Pandya was out for duck while wicketkeeper M S Dhoni made 13 in 17 balls. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten on 19 in 20 balls hitting 2 fours while Kuldip Yadav remained not out on two.

For South Africa, Lungisani Ngidi took 4/51 in 9 overs while Kagiso Rabada took 1/58 in 9 overs.
