New Delhi : India recorded 8,439 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, up from 6,822 new cases on December 7, 2021. Less than 15,000 Daily New Cases have been reported for the last 41 days now.

On the other hand, a total of 9,525 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours, down from 10,004 recoveries on December 7, 2021, increasing the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,40,89,137 on December 8, 2021. India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%, the highest since March 2020.

India’s Active Caseload was 93,733 on December 8, 2021, down from 95,014 cases on December 7, 2021, the lowest in 555 days. Active cases accounted for 0.27% of the country’s total Positive Cases on December 8, 2021, the lowest since March 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 12,13,130 sample tests being conducted in the country. India has so far conducted over 65.06 Crore (65,06,60,144) sample tests.

The Weekly Positivity Rate at 0.76% remains less than 1% for the last 24 days now. The Daily Positivity rate was 0.70% on December 8, 2021. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 2% for last 65 days and below 3% for 100 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 73,62,000 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 129.54 Crore (1,29,54,19,975) as per provisional reports till 7 am on December 8, 2021.  This has been achieved through 1,35,05,139 sessions.
