Patna : Captain Virat Kohli hit his 43rd ODI century as India beat West Indies (WI) by 6 wickets under DLS method in the rain truncated 3rd ODIto win the three-match series 2-0. Kohli scored an unbeaten 114 in 99 balls with 14 fours while Shreyas Iyer scored 65 in 41 balls hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes. Kohli was declared Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series. The match was reduced to 35 overs a side due to rain.
Electing to bat after winning the toss WI scored 240/7 in 35 in the rain interrupted match with opener Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis scoring 72 and 43 runs respectively. Gayle hit 8 fours and 5 sixes in his 72 while Lewis hit 5 fours and 3 sixes. Nicholas Pooran made 30 in 16 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes.
Chasing the revised target of 255, India made 256/4 in 32.3 overs with Kohli and Iyer adding 120 runs for the 4th wicket. Opener Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored 10 and 36 runs respectively. Rishabh Pant (wk) fell to spinner Fabian Allen, 24, for zero. Roach also took the wicket of Iyer. Rohit Sharma was run out. Kohli said Iyer’s innings proved to be game changer.
