India beat WI by 318 runs in 1st Test as Bumrah takes 5/7 & Ishant 3/31

Patna : India crushed West Indies (WI) by 318 runs in the first test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, in the third session of the lay on Day 4 on August 25, 2019, late night, with fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah taking 5/7 in 8 overs three of which were maiden. Ishant Sharma, who had taken five wickets in the WI first innings, took 3/31 in 9.5 overs while fellow fast bowler Mohammad Shami took 2/13 in 5 overs. India now lead the two-match test series 1-0.

Ajinkya Rahane was named Player of the Match for scoring 81 in India’s first innings and 102, his 10th test century, in the second innings.

Chasing a target of 419 runs, WI were all out for just 100 runs in 26.5 overs in their second innings with fast bowler Kemar Roach  being their top scorer with 38 runs in 31 balls hitting 1 four and 5 sixes. Miguel Cummins remained unbeaten on 19 in 22 balls with 2 fours and a six while Roston Chase made 12. WI had lost their first five wickets for just 15 runs on board. But, Kemar Roach and Miguel Cummins added 50 runs for the 10th wicket. Captain Jason Holder fell to Bumrah for 8.
