Patna : India crushed West Indies by an innings and 272 runs in the first cricket test at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, Gujarat, after tea on the third day of the play. Following on, West Indies were all out for 196 runs in 50.5 overs in their second innings with Kieran Powell scoring 83 in 93 ball with 8 fours and 4 sixes. All the 10 wickets were taken by the spinners with Kuldeep Yadav taking 5/57, Ravindra Jadeja 3/35, and Ravichandran Ashwin 2/71.

Earlier, replying to India’s 649/9 declared, West Indies were all out for 181 in their first innings with Roston Chase scoring 53 and Keemo Paul 47. Ravichandran Ashwin took 4/37.

Captain Virat Kohli, debutant Prithvi Shaw, 18, and allrounder Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries in the test. Jadeja also took 4 wickets in the match while Kuldeep Yadav and Ashwin took six wickets each. India now lead the two-test match series 1/0.
