India beat Sri Lanka by innings and 239 runs in Nagpur test

Patna : India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 239 runs on the fourth day in the second test at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, on November 27, 2017. Sri Lanka had made only 205 in the first innings. Replying to which India had declared their first innings at 610/6 on November 26, 2017, with four of its batsmen : Murli Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scoring centuries. In fact, Kohli made 213 while Rohit remained unbeaten on 102.

Trailing by 405 runs on first innings, Sri Lanka were all out for 166 runs in 49.3 overs in their second innings with Captain Dinesh Chandimal scoring 61, fast bowler Suranga Lakmal 31, L Thirimanne 23, D Karunaratne 18 and D Shanaka 17. For India, R Ashwin took 4/63, R Jadeja 2/28, Ishant Sharma 2/43 and Umesh Yadav 2/30 wickets. Ashwin took 8 wickets in the match while Ishant Sharma and Jadeja took five wickets each.

India are now 1-0 up in the  three-test series. The first cricket test at Kolkata had ended in a thrilling draw.
