Patna : India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 171 runs in the third and final cricket test played at Pallekele on August 14, 2017, sweeping the series 3/0. Hardik Pandya, who scored a century in the test, was declared Player of the Match.

The third test was finished inside three day with Sri Lanka getting all out  on 181 and Ravichandra Ashwin taking 4/68. They had scored 135 in the first innings and were forced to follow on. India scored 487 in the only innings they played in the third test. Shikhar Dhawan, who scored two centuries in the series, was the declared Man of the series.
