Patna : Rohit Sharma, the Hit-Man, was declared both Player of the Series and Player of the Match as India defeated South Africa (SA) by an innings and 202 runs in the 3rd test at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi, Jharkhand, winning the three-match series 3-0 and bagging 120 points for the ICC World Test Championship. India have now 240 points from five tests as they had defeated West Indies 2-0 few months back.

Rohit thanked the team management for giving him the opportunity to open the innings in tests. Rohit hit three centuries in the series including a double century in 3rd test. South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said that India dominated the series in all departments – batting, bowling and fielding.

Resuming at their overnight score of 132/8, SA were all out for 133 in 48 overs on Day 4 with Jharkhand spinner Shahbaz Nadeem taking both the wickets. SA were all out for 162 in their first innings. India had declared their first innings at 497/9 in the third session of play on Day 2.
