Patna : India defeated New Zealand (NZ) in Super Over in a high-voltage the 3rd T20I at Seddon Park, Hamilton, NZ, on January 29, 2020, to  the  clinch the five-match series 3-0 with two matches still to be played. Replying to NZ’s 17/0, India scored  20/0 in the Super Over with Rohit Sharma, the Hit-Man, hitting Tim Southee for two consecutive sixes on the last two balls bowled by him in the over.

Of the 20 runs scored by India in Super Over, Rohit scored 15 runs. It is India’s first T20I series win in NZ. Rohit Sharma was declared Player of the Match. Rohit had scored 65 runs in 40 balls India’s 179 runs hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Earlier, both the teams ended up scoring 179 runs in their respective innings. NZ had the match under their control as they needed only 2 runs in the last four balls of the 20th over. But, they scored just 1 run in the last four 4 balls of the 20th over as captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor were out on 3rd and 6th ball of that over. Williamson fell to fast bowler Mohammad Shami for 95 in 48 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes, his maximum in a T20I innings. Taylor fell to Shami for 17 with a four and a six. Shami took 2/32 while Shardul Thakur took 2/21.

Indian bowlers particularly fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah were pretty ordinary in this match. Bumrah leaked 62 runs in 5 overs including 17 runs in the Super Over.
