Patna : India defeated England by 7 wickets in the first of the two warm up games, before the T20 World Cup, at ICC Academy Ground, Dubai, UAE, on October 18, 2021, late night, as opener Ishan Kishan ( retired hurt) scored 70 runs in 46 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes and his opening partner K L Rahul scored 51 in 24 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Virat Kohli fell to leg spinner Liam Livingstone for 11 while Suryakumar Yadav fell to David Willey for 8. India had won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first, England scored 188/5 in 20 overs.

Chasing a target of 189 runs, India scored 192/3 in 19 overs with Rishabh Pant (wk) hitting the winning six on the last ball of 19th over bowled by fast bowler Chris Jordan. India needed 20 runs in last 2 overs. Jordan  conceded 23 runs in 19th over alone which included 2 fours by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Pant remained unbeaten on 29 runs in 14 balls  with 1 four and 3 sixes, two back to back sixes off spinner Moeen Ali and 1 off Chris Jorda, while Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 12 in 10 balls with 2 fours..  Openers K L Rahul and Ishan Kishan added 82 runs for the first wicket.

Earlier batting first, England scored 188/5 with Jonny Bairstow scoring 49 in 36 balls with 4 fours and 1 six and Moeen Ali scoring an unbeaten 43 in 20 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Liam Livingstone scored 30 runs in 20 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six. Mohd Shami took 3/40 in 4 overs while Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Rahul Chahar took 1 wicket each.,
