Patna : India beat Bangladesh by 28 runs in the 40th match of CWC at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on  July 2, 2019, late night, with Jasprit Bumrah taking 4/55 in 10 overs and all-rounder Hardik Pandya taking 3/60 in 10 overs. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, and Yuzvendra Chahal, took one wicket each. Rohit Sharma was declared Player of the Match for  3rd time in this tournament.

Replying to India’s 314/9 in 50 overs, Bangaladesh were all out for 286 in 48 0vers with all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scoring 66 in 74 balls with 6 fours and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin scoring an unbeaten 51 in 38 balls hitting 9 fours. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar scored 22 and 33 runs respectively adding 39 runs for the first wicket. Mushfiqur Rahim (wk) fell to Chahal for 24 while Liton Das fell to Pandya for 22. Spinner Mosaddek Hossain fell to Bumrah for 3 while Sabbir Rahman fell to Bumrah for 36 with 5 fours. Bangladesh lost the match but not before proving once again that they are no push over.

Earlier electing to bat after winning the toss, India scored 314/9 with opener Rohit Sharma scoring his 4th century in the CWC 2019 and 26th ODI century overall. Rohit and Lokesh Rahul added 180 runs for the first wicket. Rohit fell to Soumya Sarkar for 104 in 92 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes while Rahul fell to fast bowler Rubel Hossain for 77 in 92 balls with 6 fours and a six. Captain Virat Kohli fell to fast bowler Mustfizur Rahman for 26 with 3 fours while Rishabh Pant fell to Shakib Al Hasan for 48 with 6 fours and a six. M S Dhoni (wk) made 35 while Dinesh Karthik made 8. Hardik Pandya fell to Mjustafizur for a duck.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took 5/59 in 10 overs.
