Patna : India on September 24, 2017, defeated Australia by five wickets in the third ODI at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, with 13 balls to spare. Australia had made 293/6 in 50 overs with Aron Finch making 124, skipper Steven Smith 63, David Warner 42 and M Stoinis 27 not out. Finch hit five sixes and 12 fours in his score of 124. With their win in the third ODI, India have taken an unbtable 3-0 lead in the five match ODI series.

In reply, India made 294/5 in 47.5 overs with all rounder Hardik Pandya making 78 runs in 72 balls with 5 hits to the fence and four sixes. Rohit Sharma made 71 runs in 62 balls with 6 fours and four sixes while Ajinkya Rahanae made 70 in 76 bals with 9 fours. Rohit Sharma and Rahane,who opened the innings for India, were involved in a partnership of 139 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli made 28 in 35 balls with two fours while Manish Pandey remained not on 36 runs in 32 balls with 6 fours and M S Dhoni  3 not out in 6 balls. For Australa, fast bowler Pat Cummins took 2/ 54, NathanCoulter Nile 1/ 58, K Richardson 1/45 and spinner A Agar 1/71 runs.
